Dermaplaning is a safe and effective treatment to remove dead skin cells and facial hair, also known as “peach fuzz.” This is one of the gentlest exfoliation methods for the skin, and suitable for almost all skin types.
Results are instant – the skin will look smoother and more radiant and there is no downtime following treatment. Other noticeable benefits to dermaplaning is that make-up glides on smoother and skincare can be absorbed into the skin better.
Gives the skin a smoother surface
Removes superficial dead skin cells and “peach fuzz”
Boosts radiance and hydration
Considered a gentler exfoliation treatment compared to microdermabrasion and skin peels
DOES THE HAIR GROW BACK THICKER?
It is impossible to stimulate hair growth using a shaving technique. Your facial hair will not grow back thicker or darker.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO HAVE A TREATMENT?
This all depends on how fast your hair growth is and the results desired. Dermaplaning treatments are usually carried out every 6-12 weeks.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
The skin might look slightly flushed straight after dermaplaning, and feel sensitised. It is common for the skin to go dry for a day or two after.
HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY SKIN AFTERWARDS?
Make-up and exercise should be avoided for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid any kind of UV exposure and wear an SPF daily. A gentle cleanser should be used, alongside a hydration product.
AM I SUITABLE FOR DERMAPLANING?
Active acne, and dry, inflamed skin conditions such as psorasis should avoid dermaplaning. It is not a solution for thick facial hair growth, consider laser hair removal instead.
IS THERE ANY RISK OF REACTION?
There is minimal risk of a reaction with dermaplaning as it only provides a very superficial exfoliation. In rare case, cuts and nicks can happen as a result of the surgical blade.
